Default Entering unlock code

Please Login to Remove!

I have a friend with a TMo 8100. She recently bought the unlock code online.

Now, what we are stuck on is being able to enter the code.

We have to enter M E P P D or M E P P on the Advanced Options / SIM Card (HOW DO YOU DO THIS?)

I have an 8320, so I'm unfamiliar on how to enter letters on the suretype keyboard.

Any help would be appreciated!

Here's the instructions from Crackberry, since BBFFAQ is currently down.

BlackBerry 8100
1. Insert SIM card and power phone on.
2. Make sure the radio and wireless are turned off.
3. Go to Options -> Advanced Options -> SIM Card
4. Type MEPD on the keyboard (you won't see the text)
5. Type MEPP then [ALT button] then 2 (again you won't see the text)
6. Enter the unlock code and press enter
7. Reboot. Device is now unlocked.

But how do you enter MEPD/MEPP with a suretype?

1. Insert SIM into device

2. Power phone on and Turn off the radio (Turn Wireless Off option) VERY IMPORTANT.

3. Select "Options" THEN SELECT ADVANCED OPTIONS

4. Scroll down and select "SIM Card"

5. Type "MEPPD" (please note that you will not see what you type on the screen)

6. Type "MEPP then [ALT BUTTON] then 2" (please note that you will not see what you type on the screen)

7. Enter the Unlock Code

8. Press enter

9. Reboot device. Device is now unlocked.

It will enter automatically, just like how the code "alt + eace" is easily remembered by sure-type guys as "alt + race".

Just enter it as discribed and the next screen should pop up. I quick search of the forum yields several requests about this and all get the same answer. Just do it as listed in JS's post and you'll be good. Crackberry should update their FAQ for this.

Still doesn't work. No screen pops up.

Are we supposed to hold ALT when typing in the characters?

I've done this for my 8700 and 8320 no problems. This suretype stuff is funky.

You only need the Alt for the number 2. Everything else is just as instructed.

No, don't hold down ALT. On the Suretype KB, simply type M E P P D.

Question...

I was with T-Mobile and got a Pearl from them. I just switched to Cingular (AT&T) last week and now T-Mobile won't give me the unlock code, lol. Does anyone know if Cingular will be able to get my unlock code or am I stuck with the costly unlocking services?

You need to get the unlock code for a Tmobile device from Tmobile. As for costly?? $10 from Horizon Online using the discount link in many users posts is hardly costly.

I thought it was $50+++ .. I didn't wanna spend that much for a code lol..

Thanks for the info.. I'll look for the discount thing..

I hope they're legit.

Edit:

Sale: $28.00
Save: 15% off

Pretty good I guess..

Not sure if that's the right one but here's the link to the BBF Members discount page.
BBForums : HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, The World’s Cellular Repair Center

Just double checked and for any AT&T/Cingular unlock it's onl sale for $15.50 and the BBF discount gets you $5 off. So yeah... $10 is pretty good.

As for legit... Horizon is rock solid and in fact a sponsor of this forum. They do promos for members all the time.

Oh nice.. I don't have the Cingular BlackBerry though. I have the T-Mobile one :[.

I should have asked them for the unlock code before I switched to Cingular!

Okay...your profile says Cingular that's why I gave you that quote. In this case it would be $23 with the BBF discount.

I've tried following the unlock instructions for my 8310, but I can't get the prompt to appear. I enter MEPD, then MEP, alt, 2, but nothing. What am I missing?
