Default Unable to install OS: BB loses connection while installing!!

Please Login to Remove!

hi!
I just made a complete wipe with Jl_Cmder and now I'm trying to install the last 4.5 OS, but my BB disconnects from the pc while installing and then my led starts with a red light blinking twice every 5 seconds or so.
I tried with Desktop Manager alot of times, and so I tried with the alternative installation shown in the What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe how-to.

in that procedure it's shown how to connect the device when Jl_Cmder does not connect, but at the end of procedure the OS installation screen starts without all the graphics and stuff of Desktop Manager.
in this way I am able to select the OS features without the lag of the DM interface.

with this procedure I get 4 steps:
  • Load JVM and system software
  • Wait for device initaialization
  • Read application configuration
  • Loading applications
the procedure starts with a big arrow next the first step (Load JVM and system software) and starts doing things:
  1. Erasing applications (first times was unable to finish because the BB was disconnecting -- after a few tries it finished this with no disconnection)
  2. Loading system software (goes fine to the end)
then it goes to the next step and the big arrow moves down (Wait for device initaialization) and starts with other things:
  1. Waiting for device initaialization (it goes to the end with no problem)
  2. Reconnecting to JVM (it goes all to the end but I get a message that was unable to reconnect to the device!!!!!!!!!)
PLEASE HELP!! how do I install a 4.5 OS on my BB 8100????

thank you all.

UPDATE2: I found on the forum a post of someone that was mentioning of putting the battery back on the BB when the device was loading stuff, so I decided to try that and I put it back when there was the progress bar with the 1. Waiting for device initaialization that I mentioned above.

I did this because I noticed that while the installation software was in this state, the BB screen was turned on showing the icon of the missing battery...and so I thought: "maybe he wants the battery...let's try!!"...and after this the BB booted with the 507 error and the point 2. Reconnecting to JVM of the installation software ended with success going ahead with the installation process.

in a few seconds the main installation procedure pointed with the big arrow to the forth and final point Loading applications starting to transfer stuff on the BB, and from the other side of the cable the BB screen started to show the icons of the BB and PC with arrows btweem them.

I got happy about that, since the installation process stopped.....and I have noticed that touching the BB with a finger resulted in its turing off blinking red....and to have the installation software to end up with the following message:

A fatal error has occurred while updating your device's software. Please try again.

Device communications error encountered. [A:0x00000025]

might be a cable problem?!?!?

UPDATE3: yes...I finally made it....and I think that it might be a cable problem.

I don't know why, but I had to insert the battery when the installation software was in the state showing "Waiting for device initaialization", otherwise I could not end my OS installation.

I think that the problem was when I was turning around the BB while plugged to the USB cable, and the result was a discotection of the device!!

so I decided to make a hard-way-try and I taped the cable to my computer desk and tight it up with a rubberban even to the BB: in this way I was able to turn around the BB moving only 5 cm of the final part of the cable where it plugs in to the BB.

and finally in this way I was able to finish the installation process!!!

hope my adventure could help some others.

thank you anyway even if no one replied in the middle of my updates.

Good news!! Sometimes it takes a little perserverance and yes a flakey cable can be very frustrating. Might be worth not touching the BB during this process in the future. Might help prevent it.

after the OS install I have checked the cable, and the battery icon flickers if I tuch the cable connector inserted in the BB...so it was this damn cable!!! ...but now I'm happy for having my new 4.5 OS installed!
