Angry USB Device Not Recognized

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I'm looking for some help with a recent problem i started having connecting my 8130 to my Windows XP laptop. I'm running 4.5.0.89 (Platform 3.2.0.52) and Desktop Manager 4.6.0.12. When i connect it to my laptop, i get a popup stating "USB Device Not Recognized".

I've tried everything i could possibly think of to fix this with no luck. I tried other USB ports in my docking station. Uninstalling and reinstalling DM, uninstalling an reinstalling USB drivers. Anyone have any ideas?

Make certain your USB cable is connected to one of the laptop's main USB ports. Not a USB hub, nor a monitor USB port, nor a USB port on docking station.

Jason - No - he doesn't need to roll-back his OS version...others including myself have used a myriad of OS versions released by other carriers with no issues. I'm on .89 right now w/my Verizon pearl and it connects perfectly to my work laptop and to a home desktop.

mdoog3:

Do other USB devices connect with no issue? Try a few USB devices and see if maybe you have a general USB issue.

You can download the BB USB & Modem drivers here (https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22) - click on the drop down and get and install them again to see if that helps.

If someone will let you, or if you have another PC, install the software and connect your Pearl to see if it connects properly on another computer - that will confirm that it isn't a HW problem w/your Pearl.

The USB device manager is what lets your PC recognize your blackberry...when you uninstall DM, have you confirmed that the Blackberry Device Manager is also uninstalled? (Start>Programs>Blackberry>Blackberry Device Manager)

You might want to try DM 4.5...it seems like I've seen more problems posted on 4.6.

Default USB Not Recognized

I have had this issue in the past and found a couple of solutions.
First, make sure that the USB cable that you are using is the one that came with your unit. Standard 'USB' cables do not all work with the 8130 (it's all I own so not sure about other BBs)
Second, you may have to do a combo of all of the following:
1 - This is the one that almost always works - remove the battery from your BB and put back in and then see if PC recognizes it.
2 - Make sure that you have Desktop Manager closed before you connect it
3 - Reconnect device first to see if PC sees it - if you have a card in you should get the Windows pop up asking what you would like to do with it. You can just close that but at least you know that your PC is now seeing the device.
4 - Re-open Desktop manager and see if it is recognized.
If the above still does not work then re-boot your windows machine and try steps 1 to 4 above again.

This has helped me a lot. Good luck and let me know.
