Default OS: 8100 4.5.0.134/4.5.0.99 (English + European Languages) - 11-14-2008, 12:11 PM

Software For BlackBerry® Pearl (TM) 8100 smartphone BlackBerry
Handheld Software v4.5.0.134 (Multilanguage) from Vodafone Slovenia

Contains English and other languages

This will work on ANY carrier's 8100 model--not for the 8110, not the 8120, not the 8130.

Package Version: 4.5.0.134
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.99
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.84
* File name: 8100M_PBr4.5.0_rel134_PL2.7.0.84_A4.5.0.99.ex e
* File size: 80 MB

Download here:
http://www.simobil.si/_static/upload..._A4.5.0.99.exe

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8100:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

To find previous versions of the OS for this device, click here:

The link is wrong, the name of the link should be copied and used. And it is a 4.5.0.99 version.

The WAS correct... Something in it got edited or something. I pasted it there only after double checking, and have done so again now.

It just worked for the correct version.

So, is the thread title correct or not? Should it refer to 4.5.0.134 / 4.5.0.99?

Right, fully installed it now.

Took by far the longest amount of time to install for some reason, especially restoring the backup...took 60 minutes to complete totally.

Hada quick scoot through the phone and can't see any additions. Speed of the phone seems on par with its .81

k downloaded it to my computer and installed it on my Blackberry. 1 thing ive noticed is better voice quality(just a little better). Also faster than .81. These are really the only changes. I would definitely recommend getting this if you have .81 or older. =]

Help please
I have a 8100 and recently downloaded this version update however when I install I get an error during the initial connection to boot ROM
“a fatal error has occurred while updating your devices software. Please try again”

I am using desktop mang 4.6 and currently have version 4.2.0 on my bb (even tried wiping/reinstalling 4.2.0 version then doing update – same error  I also tried the update from the blackberry site. I am not on a server.

Any suggestions?
&
Thanks Muchly!

Not deleting the vendor.xml doesn't cause any problems like either of your problems. Failure to delete the vendor.xml just prevents the OS from even being recognized for installation.

But forgetting to delete the vendor.xml file didn't cause it.

Some OS's don't have data in the vendor.xml file so the OS will still be recognized without deleting it. Again, the error you got had nothing to do with the vendor.xml. More likely a glitch in your USB port.

I did delete the vendor.xml file from my pc as instructed in those steps above. Its strange as i dont get any error number on the manager program just the fatal error string.

My BB turns off then back on when i start the update then a few seconds later it trys to connect to the boot rom and the screen goes white (no error # that i noticed) then hour glass then reloads everything how it originally was

I am open to any suggestion or tips ..im plan outta ideas of things to try

thanks again muchly

I recently tried to install version 4.5. I think it was the release just prior to this one. I had a couple of problems with it, including the fact that Docs To Go did not install.

Does this version include Docs To Go?

All 4.5 OS has Docs To Go. However, you have to check the box to add it during installation.

I have one other question. My BB was previously on a BES. I went through the steps to add the blank IT policy. It worked, and I'm now on BIS only; but, it left the firewall.

If I upgrade to this version of 4.5, will it finally get rid of the firewall?

Can you disable atomatic lightning for the keyboard (Auto Dim function) in this version? Since I've upgrade from 4.2 this isn't possible anymore. I've asked this question in the 8120 topic bij mistake.

Seems faster, and camera seems crisper. Loading did take longer, but I just walk away and come back. Only complaint is that I have to update Docs To Go back to the latest version so 2007 will work. It's free so I really shouldn't complain.

I can't go to my address book by holding down the send button any longer. It just takes me to the call log. Minor complaint, but no biggie.

Other than that, no probs.

I had to delete the all contents of the old applader folder that had the files from the previous update I did. Once I did that and ran the new OS .exe file it installed just fine. On a side note, I did get the 507 error but only for about 3 seconds and then the install continued normal and it does take about an hour with about the second half of just connecting to the device. It says that but it actually continues with the file and app loading. So far so good. Hope every one else has good luck.

All looks good so far, OS "seems" to respond quicker but apart from that can't see anything added.
