Default Texting to 5 digit numbers?

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to text to A&E to sign up for a reminder for a particular tv show. It says to text to "23246" and my phone keeps giving me an error (SMS error96, message ID 202) general problems. Can you not text to a number like this or is this problem related to my carrier? Thanks in advance for your help.

P.s. I love this site. I have learned so much here!

i text that number and it worked for me i am on a verizon pearl 8130 os 4.5.0.97

try resetting the phone. the 5 digitnumber is called a short code and they are ment to be textable so i dont know why there is a problem. try updating your phone or call your provideder. you might have "premium" messages blocked

Your carrier must have an agreement to carry SMS for that individual #.
