Question Quick question regarding Micro SDHC cards

Please Login to Remove!

My search did not reveal an answer to my question (maybe I didn't search hard enough?) ... so

1) I have the 8100 with the latest OS (4.5 something)
2) I want to put a 8gb microsd card in it (I have a 4gb that I want to move elsewhere).
3) I see that the cards come in Class 2, 4, 6 ... and wiki tells me that the MINIMUM speed is 2mb/s, 4mb/s etc.

Questions:
a) Does this mean that I *cannot* use a Class 6 and must go for a "lower" class card?
b) Are there any brands I should avoid? How about Kingston ... or the generic brands on ebay (from Hong Kong)?

Thanks!!

I'd personally avoid the generic brands on eBay and go for a more recognized brand - Kingston, SanDisk, etc. Cards I've purchased from eBay in the past have failed on me, which is a very frustrating experience. However, this is only my personal experience, and not all cards that are sold on eBay are bad, either.

Right now Amazon is having an up-to-40%-off sale on memory cards (Amazon.com: 40% off or more - Amazon.com / Memory: Computers & PC Hardware). Newegg.com is also a great place to look for great prices on memory cards.

Thanks rachamphetamine! I see your point about avoiding ebay with these kind of prices.
I did some searching and came up with Transcend 8GB Micro SDHC Flash Card Model TS8GUSDHC6 - on NewEgg. Its a Class 6 and priced at $17.99 shipped!

... oops! As I was looking at the page, it went out of stock!!! (showed as "in stock" at first and now its not)

But still what about the item itself? Is Transcend good? I'm sure we can find it elsewhere.

I also see Class 6 cards by A-Data on Newegg.

I've heard of SanDisk and Kingston, but are these also known brands?

Thanks fiestito!
Does it work well with video? I think I read somewhere that a fast card is needed for video (but that mp3 etc are fine with slower cards)?

Odd ... I happened to check the Class 6 Transcend card again ... this was the one which had suddenly gone out of stock at Newegg ... it came back in stock! So I just ordered it - at worst I'm out $17.99. At best I have a fast card!

I have a speed class 6 A-Data Micro SD (8Gb) and it works fine on my 4.5 OS 8100.
