New 8100 Owner. Few questions. Bought a 8100 Handset from my friend. Its locked to At&T until tomorrow when i get unlock code. used a recomendation from this forum :) I have a few questions. So far I wiped it, then reinstalled new OS. It seems to be an 8100c, as thats the only one AT&T had when looking for OS upgrade. So that was teh software I downlaoded and installed. its version number is 4.2.1.96 I tried the "latest" one in the post stuck in this forum, the rogers one, but when i installe dit and then run teh app loader, it said no upgrade avaialble. Then I tried the AT&T one. So firstly is there a more recent version of he OS I can use on this Handset. Is there a way I can check what model this BB is to be sure, it says in the about menu an 8100.. no mention of it being an 8100c in that section etc, but as I said the os software I downloaded and installed was teh AT&T 8100c. Also can I connect this handset to my home wireless network? And get internet access via ny ADSL router? Any help appreciated. |

The 8100 does not have wiFi capabilities. Welcome to the forums and good luck! E- |
Thx muchly. It has a "Wireless off" and "Wireless on" option so was fooled by that in the desktop menu. I,ll try the upgrade now. |
The only Pearl with Wifi is 8120. The 'About' screen on the 8120 will specifically state 8120. If yours says 8100, then it's the original first generation Pearl with no Wifi. |
Sorry, forgot this. The vendor.xml is typically located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader |
So just to confirm, there is no way I can use my home Internet to browse the inet on my blackberry, usb cable to my PC etc wont work. |
Okies. I blanked my unit, has the 507 code. i run the apploader, vendor.xml is not present in the apploader directory. The apploader software says "no software is available for your device" I have installed "8100M_PBr4.5.0_rel139_PL2.7.0.85_A4.5.0.102_Roger s.exe" Any ideas what I am doing wrong? |
