Default New 8100 Owner. Lots of annoying problems. Expert help? :)

Please Login to Remove!

I was given an AT&T 8100 by a friend who lives in teh States.

I live in Iceland.

I have unlocked phone with a company I found on these forums, taht went well

I reinstalle dlatest OS after blanking it to code 570.

On boot up it STILL says AT&T..

I think this is basically where all my problems lie.

I installed MSN Messenger.

It says:

The service is not enabled for this handheld. I have google serached my ass off, with no definative answer.

Even though my other freind has it working perfectly on hers in the UK with vodaphone.

Opera doesnt work, says it doesnt have internet connection even though the built in browser works fine accessing via GRPS.

I have literally no idea how to get my hotmail account to appear on my phone desktop as an "inbox"..

I even tried using web messenger via the built in browse, and cannot get it to launch, when i hover over the normal launch link, it doenst highlight up.

I have fiddled with all sorts of settings.. and then returned them to what they were, and made notes on where they are :P

Please can anyone help me throug these problems, I only got this phone to get MSn and emails delivered to my phone, I have very little interst in it for naything else.

thanx in advance for any help, very very much appreciated.

Wirelessly posted (hope is everything!)

For opera to work you will need to configure apn setings for your service provider

Also, it will always say at&t when booting up. That can't be changed.

Why does my phone say "The service is not enabled for this handheld" when trying MSN.. I asumed this was an AT&T lock of somesort..

It work fine on my friends 8100s..

It sounds like you don't have the service books required to use MSN. I'd suggest logging into your BIS account and resending them to see if that helps - or try a battery pull.
