Your device could be low on free space.

Click on Options -> Status. What is the File Free?

This is a sign that your available memory is probably too low on the phone.

You can try the things listed in this post to improve your available memory: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ee-memory.html

Also, if you have ringtones, pictures, videos, or any kind of media stored on your phone, you can get a SD card to move them over to the card to free up space.

Then you are definitely too low on memory, which will cause you to lose things such as the SMS messages. Do you have a SD card in your phone?

Well, 9 MB is a good start. Are you sure that (for example) when you take a picture it's being saved onto the media card? Make sure it's set to do that in the camera options, and also make sure whatever you have saved is really on the media card.

Do you have any third party applications installed that you're not using? If so, you could get rid of those as well.

If you have the SMS messages saved to stay forever, they can end up using a lot of free space. It's a good idea to periodically clean them out every now and then, or at least the ones you don't want to save anymore.
