Default Pearl: Sound, Pics & help file errors

Please Login to Remove!

Pearl 8100c, getting and error when trying to open pics or sound. Also cannot access the help files.

Error listed when trying to access help files:
Error starting_rim_bb_help:Module 'net_rim_esmascript'not found

Error that pops up when trying to open pics and sounds:

unable to display file /Device Memory/samples/music/Music Demo

same type of error for pics.

Took out battery, first line of defense in any error, put back in, no help.

Was on phone w/blackberry tech support, they walked me through a full wipe,
still having same errors. They confirmed plenty of memory, sim and sd card is fine. They suggested to buy a new one of course.

Only had this phone 1 1/2 yrs, well taken care of, not a scratch on it, never left out in cold or heat. Always follow directions on charging, etc....

Any help out there?

Thanks

What version of the BB O/S are you running? if you've had it 1.5 years, I'd strongly suggest updating it if you havn't already.

Running V4.2.0.73

We do not use it for the internet all. Just calls and some texting. And love to take pics and have sounds and music on it.

Was instructed to download V4.5.0.152, during the download I called att and then they stated it was not the right one. We need to call Blackberry.

Where do we find the latest correct version number for this phone?

Hey nowhit10,

If you check out this link http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html it'll tell you all you need to know about how to upgrade to the latest OS.

I'm running this version on my Pearl and all looks great. You'll like the improvement I'm sure.

I'd also refraine from calling your carrier when upgrading your firmware, they're usually not to receptive about users doing this.

Also when we take the battery out and put back in, get a message box on rebooting, "uncaught", and then waiting for something, can't remember what, a bunch of numbers, and F19 timeout at them bottom of the screen.
And also on the upper center of the screen where it usually says either att or no service, it says "data connection refused"

So does upgrades correct problems like we are having? No sense in getting another one so soon, too expensive.

Yeah,
all those errors (apart from data connection refused) sound software related to me. Give the Upgrade a go and let us know what happens.

data connection refused means that you have no BlackBerry provisioning from your carrier. Does this go away? have you ever used your BlackBerry for email/data/internet?

yes, the data connection refused does go away when we click the track ball, then it says att like it is suppose to.

We will try the upgrade tonight, hopefully it will fix our problems. Thanks for the help, will let you know the outcome!!!Keep your fingers crossed!!!
