| I mean that this is my first Berry, and my previous phones haven't had the upgrading capability this one has. I know the upgrade OS software comes from RIM, but will there be any problems using an upgrade version from an overseas service provider? Like functionability not working on a domestic network?
I hope I don't sound stupid (please keep the eye rolling to a minimum), but having a smart phone is a new concept for me and I'm trying to learn as much as I can by asking questions. | | Offline

No, as long as the OS is for the same device type it doesn't matter. You will lose no functionality. Its all the same code. | | Offline

This was proceeded by a no screen activation and just the red light on. This resulted in a requirement to do a battery pull and reboot the computer.

| i just installed it, its a little slow, but aesthetically pleasing. however, now when i put my memory card in and turn on my phone, it will get all the way to the security checks, and then reboot itself, as long as i have my memory card in, it just keeps rebooting, it will not stay on. its fine without the memory card though. i just bought this card, and it worked fine until i installed the OS, whats going on!?!?! how do i fix that? | | Offline

You have a corrupted file on the card. Make a backup of the card, reformat it in OS 4.5 then move back one folder at a time untill you find what file is causing it. | | Offline

if you dont have a reader, they are pretty cheap. when im in a pinch, i will use my digital camera (which takes full sized SD cards) and then i will also use a micro to full sized adapter.
good luck.

I deleted ColorPearl and installed BlingBall like you said.
(actually I installed blingball before update to 4.5 and remove colorPearl after upgrade)
anyway, Still have the same LED problem even the application list in the phone does not show colorPearl anymore.

| Got a nice size problem hoping I can get help on.
I got the .124 OS and was installing it normally. After the program had erased all the stuff out of it, and was about to install the new OS, I got an error message saying there was a fatal error. When I closed and restarted it, the phone went blank like the battery had been removed (showing & doing nothing). I did a battery pull and also removed the SIM card, but now the led is flashing (2 quick red flashes, a couple seconds delay, followed by another 2 quick flashes in red).
If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it as I am expecting an important call on it later this evening, and they don't have an alternate number to reach me at.

| so i did the update on my 8100 from the 4.2 OS and now i frequently lose service until i turn off wireless and then turn it back on. this is becoming very frustrating. Has anybody else been having this problem or is there anyway that i can fix it. Lastly is there anyway for me to restore my phone to the OS that it originally came with?
