Carrier: American Telephone & Telegraph Company
Default OS: 8120 4.5.0.174/4.5.0.124 (English & East Asian) - 01-14-2009, 11:57 AM

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.174 (EastAsia)
Contains English; from Indosat
This will load to any carriers 8120

Package Version: 4.5.0.174
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.124
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.92
* File name: 8120EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel174_PL2.7.0.92_A4.5.0.124 _Indosat.exe
* File size: 93.59MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B53786A2C5FA09

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Question, does this OS have the same issue as the 110 with the bookmarks in the browser?

Good to hear, because whilst I'm normally not squeamish about loading foreign or beta updates onto any computer or device, for some reason doing it to my berry makes me nervous. From reading these forums I'm pretty certain I wont brick it, but the "extras" that tmo bolt on need to work for me too - like switching to uma in a hotspot, messing with the "myFaves" settings (dumb name for a feature but its useful) and I also need to be certain it still tethers ok. From your testing, do these things still work with the updated OS?

Yes nortmally I never did anything but the T-Mo updates, but they were so late in coming, I had to try.

Yes, UMA and MyFaves work fine. I haven't tried to tether yet. I'll try and let you know.

All in all it is better than 110 in the respective the meory leak isn't as bad.

that was a very easy thing to do... this is the first time I have done a OS update... the instructions were very simple and the process even easier.

upon disconnecting the usb, the phone was already connected to the wifi and uma service as well as instantly received an email

Had to find my myspace and facebook icons but other than that, seems more fluid to me

Thanks!

Pro and Contra:

Signal problem - indoors mainly.
Slightly slower than the previous OS but, more stable overall.
"Unknown missed call" issue is back.
Battery last much longer.
Spell checker problem - freezing OS.
Photo camera problem - takes blank photos.
No more random restarts.

Tested on 3 8120 devices so far all having the same symptoms, above mentioned.

I have no issues with it. UMA works fine. Then again, I just use my phone as a phone and get my email from BES. I don't do anything crazy with it!

Now it has stopped synch. the calendar with Outlook.
Same problem in 2 out of 3 blackberries, all on the same OS, this one.
Have checked everything, it is all as it should be...still no joy.
I am going to downgrade them all this weekend unless I am lucky and catch a new release by Saturday morning.

If it's a new phone, yes, go in and tell them the issues, see if you can get a new one.

Mine worked okay for about 3 days - then it froze.

I spent the last 6 hours troubleshooting, and then finally I downgraded back to 4.3.

And it was using the 4.5 version offered by my carrier! Don't do it - not yet anyways.

Hmm.. I was wanting to upgrade my buddy's T-Mobile 8120 to 4.5 (I'm running it officially on my Sprint 8130 and unofficially on my work T-Mobile 8100) but seems like in this thread and the previous release thread (4.5.0.110) that maybe I shouldn't bother quite yet.

Do I have the general consensus correct? Should I just have him wait a while longer? It's a shame, because his wife has the 8320 and T-Mobile has an official 4.5 offering for her :-/

Well I upgraded my 8110 the day I got it, two weeks ago, and am having no issues, the only diff from the 8120 is the wifi chip right? so ... I can't see any reason why others would have such trouble, when I upgrade I put on 3rd party app one at a time .. and if don't go well I don't put them on and try to find latest releases.

zocster, did you put an 8120 OS onto a bberry 8110 device?? Or, what are you talking about?
The latest OS for 8120 (the one we discuss in here) is not as good as we have thought it will be therefore yes, ss4rob, I would not bother with an upgrade at the moment.
It should not take to long now before we get a new release, just hang in there.

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to load the T-Mobile version, but I'm guessing since I already have .124 from the earlier posting that that is why it is not working . . . jl_cmder the way to go? I'm assuming that the base BB code is the same, but the updated UMA and Fav5 code is in the T-Mobile version, hence why I am trying to load it.

Thanks for any help!
