Did you install the CD that came with the phone? Do you have Desktop Manager on the PC?

Are you connected to a full power usb port? Try one in the back of the computer.

Have you rebooted the PC since the install? Reboot PC, pull battery on BB and reinsert then try again. Are you using the OEM USB Cord?

Have you checked the connection settings in desktop manager? It should automatically detect the device but this is just one more option to check.

What was the lowest version of DM that you tried? Are you running XP or Vista?

Plug your BB in to a USB port. Go to Windows Update, click Check for Updates. Hopefully, Windows Update with detect the BB and install the device driver you need. I tried EVERYTHING under the sun, doing a Windows Update w/ BB plugged did the trick for me.
Good luck!
BTW I am running Vista Home Premium 64 bit version.
