Was wondering if the Atomic "black" trackball could be used in the 8100..?

From everything I've heard, yes, it is compatible with all trackball equipped BlackBerry's.

I just ordered one for my 8130 off of cnn. I may post pictures of the install and the end result if anyone finds it useful (and if I have enough posts by then?).

Then I will do so! It should arrive early next week. If you don't have the patience there are videos on YouTube for removing/replacing trackballs, though, I'm not sure if there are any with replacing the original trackball with the black "Atomic" trackball.

what exactly are the advantages to this new trackball?

Supposedly smoother functionality without the "gritty" feel the originals have. Not sure how noticeable it will be. I'm getting it for the color although of course the led will no longer shine through the trackball.

any updates? did anyone get a new one to stick in their device yet?

Just put the trackball in! I'll post pics on a new thread. Should be out in a half hour.
