Default OTA download for 4.5? - 05-29-2009, 12:58 AM

Checking to see if it is possible to upgrade the software on my daughters phone from 4.3 to 4.5 over the air. I'm having problems installing blackberry desktop on her computer (vista) so was wondering if it is possible. I know on my 8830 somewhere in options i think was a place that will check the phone for new updates but I can't find again.

Wirelessly posted (Tmo's cheapest BB customer)

Don't think there's ever been an OTA option to upgrade your OS. An alternative could be the online upgrade -- I believe you can do the OS upgrade from the BB website without having to download and install the OS onto your computer.

OTA for OS upgrades, at this writing, is not an option. There are sections at the beginning of each model specfic forum that conatin links to the latest software versions for those specifc models. (8100 series, 8200 series, 8300 series, etc).
The OS does not have to be from the carrier that supports your daughters Blackberry, however, they will require a download of the OS to a PC and installation via Desktop Manager and a USB cable connected to the device.

1st Step in Troubleshooting: Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?
2nd Step in Troubleshooting: Pull the Battery.

Thanks for the help. I may try and see if sprint will do the upgrade for me at on of the stores. If not, I may just use my laptop.
