Default Multiple Pearl Problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, I'm a new member here and I was wondering if I could get some opinions and possible assistance with my Blackberry Pearl. I've had it since about October, and it's never caused too many problems. But as of the last month or two I began experiencing what I guess to be tower outages. I'll be in a place with full bars and my phone will switch from 1EXV to 1x and will stop sending/receiving texts or will prohibit me from making outgoing calls or receiving them. I pretty much just have to wait until my blackberry decides to start working again. I've been on the phone with Alltel's tech support many times and even after updating my system the problem still persists.

My second problem is apparently very common with Blackberry Pearls. Lately, it's become increasingly hard to get the pearl to accept my charger, wether it be a wall, usb, or car charger. Now, it will not charge at all, and this is my second charger that I've gone through and it doesn't seem to have any problems. I believe it's all my blackerry.

Opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried to update your roaming lists?
If you type *228 send, then click 2 (I believe) to update your roaming list.
It may solve the problem.
Also, with the transition of Alltel towers to Verizon, you may experience some problems while they are doing this. We have had some here in Lincoln.

Welcome to the forums.

I don't believe the *228 will work with Alltel.

You said you've already upgraded your OS but what OS are you currently running? You can find out by going to Options > About or by holding Alt and pressing E,A,C,E. 1x would prevent you from sending/receiving data, but it shouldn't affect your SMS/voice calls.

Also, it sounds like the USB port on the device is going bad. Since you've had the device less than a year, it should be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. I would try to get a replacement device.
