Unhappy Help! I cannot Request Using PIN

Please Login to Remove!

Every time I try to add a contact to my BB Messenger it sends the request to the person's email. And I do not even have a "Request Using PIN" option to add from.

I go to my BB Messenger - click menu - Add a Contact... - I scroll up to [Use Once] - and there all it says is "email: "

What am I doing wrong? Are my settings wrong?

Wirelessly posted

If you're connected to a BES (your company server to get corporate e-mail), then your administrator as disabled the PIN feature and you will have to ask to have it reactivated (if its not part of corporate policy).

If you're not on a BIS (e-mail through your carrier), then you probably have a phone that was used before on a BES server and the policy is still active. You can search this forum for how to remove IT policy.

My phone isn't through a company.

And it's pretty new.. I have really no clue what you're talking about.

Hi Christine,
Was your phone bought new, or was it previously used?

If it was previously used (or even a return that wasn't properly wiped/refurbished) it may have a restriction placed on it from the previous company it was linked to.

If it was bought new - I can't help (don't know enough about this stuff lol) but am sure someone here will help, or even call tech support at your carrier.

If your device was 'used' and there is a remaining IT policy on it (restriction from the previous company that used it) you can look at this link, and it should explain things.

by the way, think your work is fantastic!
Take care,
Rob

I got it from a Telus store. So, as far as I know, it's new. It was fully packaged. I'm sure that if it was refurbished, they would have to tell me that, wouldn't they?

People can add me using my pin. I just can't add others with a pin.
