Default PLEASE can somebody help...problems with blackberry messenger and software...pearl 81

hi,

i have just joined this site as i do not know much about blackberrys and i really need some help from people who do....i have searched through many threads but can never find an answer to my problem.

my partner has a blackberry 8120 on orange uk.

on thursday 24th july all of a sudden his blackberry messenger dissapeared and although messages from my blackberry to his were delivering, we could not find the application anywhere...even in the advanced options part on the blackberry, it had nothing about blackberry messeneger. we installed the desktop software from the disk, and when going into the application loader part, we thought (from reading other threads) we would just have to check the box but there was no application for blackberry messenger even there...

so after hours on the phone to orange and to other friends we have tried to download the messenger software from blackberry.com but it says version not compatible we must have software version 4.0 or 4.1 ... when we check the phone we have software v 4.5.0.52 plat 2.7.0.60

i have read various forums about downgrading the os software and the desktop software but i am not very good with anything like this and just do not understand what to do.

my partner is goin away in three days and we were relying on blackberry messenger to keep in touch...can anyone possilbly help me and give me a very simplified step by step guide to get this problem resolved and tel me how we can install blackberry messenger again.

please can anybody help i am so desperate for this to work again, somebody must know how...orange have no idea what they are doing at all!!!

My best guess is that someone sent an OTA to your friend to install the lastest BBM 5.0, which is not compatible to the OS 4.5.0.52

Update your software to the latest OS for the 8120. Download it from here:

There in the Loader.exe's list of apps should appear BBM and you should put a check on it, appearing "update" as action. Proceed as in the link.

Moved to the 8100 Forum.

Please read the yellow sticky at the top. It has instructions for wiping the device and reloading the OS. Follow exactly and please be patient. It takes a while to get a new OS installed.
