Default 2.5 to 3.5 mm jack audio converter not working

Please Login to Remove!

When I connect a 3.5mm headphone to my bb 8100 using a 2.5 to 3.5 mm converter, audio is not audible through the headphone. It will sound through the speaker but at a reduced volume. I tried connecting the converter to another phone, it works well. So pls help me to solve this problem.......

My OS version is 4.5.0.124

I purchased a seidio adapter and it works perfectly, before that I had purchased a "generic" adapter and it only played through one ear.
