After going on vacation, the display now has a large white arrow in the top right corner pointing up. I don't know if this has anything to do with the problems the phone is having or not...

It won't dial from the home screen and when pressing the green button then trying to dial it only shows letters. So, basically I can't dial a number that's not in the phonebook.

Have you removed the battery for a few minutes and then put it back in?

No ... it's actually my husband's phone so I'm not that familiar w/ it.

Will popping the battery delete any contacts or anything?
