Exclamation Cannot back up 8130-HELP PLEASE

I've tried a ton of stuff, and I still can't backup my 8130 Pearl with Verizon. I can sync with Outlook, but can't with the "backup and restore" function.

Tried loading multiple versions of the desktop application manager but nothing worked.

Anyone have any tips?
I see there is a new OS out as of mid august, should I give that a try? My only worry is that if that messes up my phone will loose all the data and i'll have no backup.
