i have a 8130 Pearl, and am running Ubuntu by Linux as my O/S on my computer and was wondering if there is desktop software for Linux? And if so where would i find the download for it?

None as of yet, though it is possible to sync contacts and calendar. You can also do a more thorough sync OTA via funambol or scheduleworld or google.
