Default Pearl 8120 keeps shutting down and restarting on it's own...

Hey everyone -

I just got a USED blackberry. May have been a mistake. I've never had a blackberry before but i've had it 3 days and love it! So now i'm sad I may have to go exchange it...........

Anyway my problem is that the phone keeps shutting itself down, like all the way where it has the hour glass for a couple of minutes and I just have to wait. Really annoying since it's always when i'm in the middle of something. At first it seemed like it was just randomly but now i'm noticing it is mostly when I am texting. Yesterday it did it in the middle of a call though so I don't know. Yesterday also I went back to the place I bought it from and they gave me a different battery to try. Of course it wasn't giving them problems when I went in. Battery doesn't seem to be the problem though, since it has happened like 5 times just this morning.

Does anyone know what this is about??? I saw some other theads on other peoples phones shutting down at weird times but not quite the same situation.............I'd really appreciate any help!!! Thanks.

Those batteries do have tenancy to doing weird things. I'd try reinstalling the operating system to see if that fixes the problem then do the battery next. There is a facebook group our there that will fix your blackberry if you have a problem with it. I forgot the name of the group, but you can google it.

Cool thanks for the info...........
So I have seen people talking about reinstalling the operating system....what exactly does that mean and how would I go about that?

I already tried a different battery and so far I see no changes...I dont know. Then again they are both used batteries but I don't see how that would be a big deal...this different one I am using is tighter when I put it in so that seemed like a good thing, no getting loose...........I just don't know...
