Default Blackberry8100.com registered to RIM

Looks like RIM registered the 8100 domain name. blackberry8100.com

I guess further information on the device will be online as soon as they bring the website online.

Same reason they have the Charm and the Electron. And the same reason Microsoft had Memphis, Cairo, Whistler, Longhorn, etc. They're development names.

seems they are trying to appeal to the consumer crowd which seem to love the "name" for phones ie. Razor, Chocolate, etc

I think it is more memorable in a consumer market. Especially if you are not familiar with BlackBerry... Model numbers are easily confused but the BlackBerry Pearl is not

Does that make it the Electron killer? Do 8700 and 8100 owners self-destruct if they get too close to each other? OR is the 8100 unable to harm a human being?
