Default 8100 - Trackball Color?

Please Login to Remove!

The manual and help function tells you that you can change the color of the trackball by going into options / screen-keyboard / trackball.

in my phone you can adjust hor & vert sensitivity and audible roll, thats it.

any thoughts ??

thanks.

oh, and on the whole, i really like the new phone. works fine w/ blackberry email & gmail, and i really enjoy the themes and setup. video playback is great. it's small and light, and the keyboard is just fine.

thanks for the help.

I didn't see anything about the trackball color in the manual but it did state that you could turn the trackball light on or off. If you can, I also don't see the option in options - where they say it is. I'd love turn it off. It's too bright in low light situations - almost blinding, can't see the teeny letters on the keyboard.

I hunted around for this too. Couldn't find where to turn the trackball light on or off.

The only thing I found was you can make it flash a red color when the phone rings in phone options

Press the green send key to go into call log. Press menu button. Go to options. There's Trackball Ringtone option there. That;s all I've found.

According to the manual, under the device options, you should be able to click on Screen/Keyboard, and there should be a Trackball Lights field in there that you can set to On or Off.

(Don't have mine yet, so can't personally test this.)

The manual notes that if your notification profile uses a ringtone, the lights will still flash when receiving a call.

I believe someone was confused about choosing the trackball colors. That would indeed be cool, but the only thing in the manual about light colors refers to the LED indicators.

Not sure where you got this information. On mine, it doesn't flash, and it won't turn red. When I go into these options the option is to light on ring, but the pearl is still white. you can see back into the unit, there's no way the ball can turn red. Also, it doesn't flash, it just turns on when the phone rings. Big whoop. lol

I smell firmware hack soon!!

The first thing I noticed when I opened the box and plugged it was how blinding the LED is, and I also agree the "crystal ball" is pretty dang bright in low light areas... Red might be cool as it won't destroy your night vision as bad like if you're driving or something.

I wouldn't really say red, it kind of seemed like a light pink color but it was probably just me thinking I saw something I didnt...sorry for the misinformation

If you go under the phone setting>general options you can turn on the trackball light when the phone rings. It flashes different colors..

try changing your ringtone? like he said it flashes to the beat so maybe it can't pick anything up from a generic ringtone to flash to, try an mp3.
