Default Pearl & Beamer Bluetooth Pairing

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Blackberry 8100 Pearl and a Beamer 2007 BMW 550. I read in one of the forums that I would not have any trouble pairing them through bluetooth. However, although the Pearl and Beamer register with each other, the bluetooth connection disconnect in about 10 seconds. I can reconnect again, no problem, but then it keeps disconnecting every 5 seconds.

Before this, I had a Treo 650 from Verizon Wireless. I could pair the Beamer and Treo, no problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

uhm, Beamer refers to the motorcycles or BMW Motorrad. When talking about the cars the word is Bimmer.

I have a 2006 5 series w/ iDrive navigation system & Bluetooth. No problem pairing mine. Works great, address book shows up, BMW voice recognition works w/ it. Even shows the signal strength.

Doesn't disconnect unless you put it in the magnetic BB case that turns the phone off or puts it to sleep. Even then, if a call comes in, the car will pick it up.

Also make sure when you pair your car & the pearl that you check, "Never ask again" when it asks is it ok to pair.

Wrecker06, thanks for the feedback and glad to know that it will work. Does any of your numbers in your address book begin with *82, +1, have parentheses or letters in it, or have other than 10 digits? Also, do you have a lot of numbers in your address book? In other words, are all of your phone numbers clean? I'm trying to troubleshoot on what it is that's interfering with mine.

Default Limbo

I tried deleting all the numbers in my address book, and the bluetooth did not disconnect. Then I added a couple numbers manually, and it worked fine. Then I made a few non-numerical numbers, and although it did not dial them, the real numbers worked fine and there was no connectivitiy issues. So, it looks like the components are working fine.

I've got to restore the numbers back into my phone because I need my phone numbers, addresses, & appointments. Now my question is how do I get my regular numbers back into the phone without the bluetooth failing? Perhaps the bmw simply cannot handle 1000+ numbers.

Some of mine are 10 digits, some are only 7. Nothing weird in them. All are just numbers, no weird + or * symbols. All are clean. I have about 350 numbers in my address book. The first time I connected the phone it took about 20 minutes for all of them to transfer, but after that it worked very fast. With over 1000 numbers, just be patient, leave your phone in the car overnight and if possible in a car charger so that it can stay bonded with your car. When you turn off the car, the bluetooth connection stays active until you press the door handle to lock your car. So if you can, don't lock the car overnight (only if you have it garaged of course) and let the car load your address book.

Good news. I deleted the phone numbers on my pearl, and I was able to connect no problem. Then, I added a couple of numbers manually, and that worked. I then made a separate outlook contact list and included only the essential 100 contacts or so. Now, it works fine.

I don't know if it was just too many phone numbers or a bad field. But, thank you for all of your help folks.

my BB 8700 worked fine with the contact list. So I was surprised that the 8100 fades in and out of my 645.
I shut off 'transfer address book' on the pearl and now the blue tooth connection works fine. Hopefully they will fix this in a software upgrade.

Default BMW pairing

I too had problems pairing with BMW bluetooth with pairing cutting out after 5-10 seconds and then serching again. I sorted the problem by checking all phone numbers in my outlook file and deleting any texts which had crept in. worth noting there are 10 phone fields in Outlook so have a look at them all. Also deleted several entries where I had no name fields! Works well no with over 600 contacts

I have a 04 5 series and my pearl connects with the bluetooth perfectly once I start the car and if I am on a call and switch the car off the connection remains until I hang up which I think is a really cool feature.

I never have to take the phone out of the seidio holster to pair even though it is asleep

Might want to change your name to 'Bimmerlover' so as not to be confused or offend those who are longtime BMW enthusiasts.

Did you know that BMW produced motorcycles long before they produced cars?

Bimmers are GREAT cars, probably the finest performance car on the road for the money.

Disclosure: I used to be a BMW car tech and am a BEEMER rider (never owned a Bimmer).

Hi I.m in UK and have a Pearl 8100. i am just about to take delivery of my Bimmer E93 (07 3 series convertible). The car has Blue preparation and telematics fitted - bloody expensive as well. i have just been told that my pearl is not fully compatible and will only have Limited functionality.

No one can tell me exactly ehat 'Limited' means. I want to be able to answer, dial, select from address book, through the bimmer interface.

Has anyone else successfully connect a Pearl to a recent 3 series

Thanks

Alex

Just got a new pearl. I had the 7100 which linked fine with my BMW 325 (2006) but now my 8100 links but looses connection after a few seconds. Anyone had luck and can provide detailed instructions on how to solve this?
Thanks

Hi, I have been able to pair my 8100 Ok, and as far as I know it stays connected - I keep it in the console between the front seats when I am in the car.

However it is always there to make a call when i have needed it. Is there anyway to see from the IDrive screen if the link is breaking?
