Default How is typing on the suretype compare to full keyboard

Please Login to Remove!

Ok i'm an 8700c owner and absolutetly love it.

I'm thinking about the 8100 b/c if the uprgrades, the camera and flash, the software upgrade, everything else.

The trackball i don't mind much but the one that gets to me is the keyboard.

How do you guys like the keyboard on the 8100 is it annoying comapred to the 8700?

Thanks in advance

I can type about equally fast on an 8700 and a 8100. Suretype does get in the way sometimes, but the key size on the 8700 ensured that I hit the wrong buttons a lot too.

You should look around the site a bit more, this is a pretty well discussed topic. Go to the rants section and there are 2 other threads there as well. It all boils down to personal preference. Like the scroll wheel vs. trac-ball argument

Well I have been a Treo user the past 4 years...Purchased the 8100 Pearl from TMobile when it came out here in NYC. So I have been used to the GREAT keyboard of the Treo and was concerned in the beginning how I would adjust to the 8100 SureType issue. To my surprise I found it a pretty easy transition. I like the SureType - it amazes me how it remembers after just really teh first time I type soemthing in it, even proper names and places.
So I would say after using the phone for teh first week or two you willbe used to using it and be able to type pretty fast. I can type as fast on it now just like I did on the Treo's full keyboard.
Hope this was somewhat helpful

Seriously though, I've just had my pearl for about 2 days and I am still learning to use it. Slowly but surely I am getting there

I have had the 8700, 7290, 7230, and now the 8100. I was totally against the suretype, but after I gave it a try, I am not sorry at all! It is amazing, and I am actually faster on it than the full sized ones.

I rather have the full keyboard but you will get used to using the Suretype. The more you type, more accurate it will be because it will than recognize which words you use most often.

Thumbs up

I also had the 8700 and liked the full keyboard, so I went to a T-mobile store and messed with the 8100 and ended up getting it right there. I think I can type just as fast with it now, it just takes a few days to get used to and to also get your cutom words programed in.

You get used to it. Give it time and you won't even notice.

I have had the 8700, 7130 and now the 8100. You really get use to the suretype very quickly. It is amazingly accurate, and now that I am use to it don't know that I would go back to a Qwerty keyboard.
