I finally found a cheaper option to get my Pearl unlocked(I'm on Cingular).

Check out 50fulton.com, they unlocked my device for just 29.99! I sent them the request yesterday. Today I had an email from them with the unlock code and instructions.(I had to borrow a co-workers TMO sim though)

Now I have a Pearl on Cingular!!

Very shady character running this site. I did a whois on the domain and all the information is hidden. He also runs some auctions on ebay and for a few months he was only taking money orders. Paypal had shut his acct due to fraudulent activity. Buyer beware!

This is SPAM. He is a new member here too. Probably the same person who is running the web site and on Ebay.

FYI I am not same person running the website. I happened to come across their site on google and am really impressed with their service. They were quick and delivered exactly what they promised. Ofcourse I understand gsmps getting mad, these guys are going after his business(its about time competition brought prices down.) Maybe gsmps its time you dropped your prices!

I also happened to lookup his feedback on ebay(I didnt know he was on ebay till gsmpc mentioned this) and it looks like he has perfectly good feedback.

I stand by my original post. I got my Pearl unlocked for what seems like a very decent price, notthe exorbitant prices that gsmphonesource charges.

I am not mad, its just that I have customers coming to me after being worked over by him. Why would you hide you information so that nobody could see who you are when doing a whois? I dont do that, most reputable companies dont.

Well I paid for my unlock code via Paypal and everything worked out fine. Maybe at that time he didnt like using Paypal?

gsmps I understand your fear. I would hate for someone to come onto my turf too and challenge my bread and butter. But hey if they continue to treat other customers like they did with me, I can only see their customer base grow by the day. Remember ultimately the one with the lower price(if both provide the same level of service) always wins. If I were you, I'd drop my prices.

I always support the underdog, and in this case they are definitely delivering what they promise at almost half of what you charge. Infact Ive had the Pearl for a few days but I always thought $50+ to unlock any phone is much too high.

I'm happy for you however I have heard that being with tmonile for three months will allow you to get your phone unlocked for free by just asking. I've been with them for over 2 years, I called and requested my sum unlocked and they emailed me the unlock code for free.

Yup! You can do it for FREE at T-mobile. Just be a good customer for 90 days and that's all. That beats $29.99!

what is the benefit of unlocking your phone if you are on tmobile already?

If you travel overseas and want to use a pre-paid sim it can be very useful to have an unlocked phone

Upgrade cycles! I sold my 8700g (unlocked) on eBay for 200 after getting the pearl. Unlocking a phone before selling it opens the phone up to many more potential buyers.

I used that guy to unlock my 8700g on eBay. I unfortunately used the buy it now option before I noticed the no PayPal note. That's the last time I'll shop ebay without looking at the payment options first.

Against better judgement I sucked it up and sent out the money order. It took about 4-5 days after the money order was delivered which is lame considering I sent certified funds but I did receive the unlock code in the end. If I had to do it over I would have gone with GSM PhoneSource - When Only The Best Will Do.

If this is the same person and they're now accepting PayPal through a website I would feel pretty safe about it. I would have to take it into consideration if I was shopping for an unlock code considering the price point.

I do think the original poster should probably keep opinions about gsmps business model to himself; especially if you've never done business with him. The guy has obviously earned his good reputation. The way you knock the guy does make you look low class and a possible spammer.
