Make sure you have your APN settings correct:
O2 (UK)
Gateway IP: 192.113.200.195
Port: 9201
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
username: o2wap
password: password

BES Google Maps and BB Messenger
Is it possible that BES could prevent the usage of Google Maps and BB Messenger? Is there a workaround? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is very possible that an IT policy has been set up to prevent you from using those apps. Only workaround is for your BES Admin to allow it.

Wirelessly posted (8700c: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)
There are no IT policies with BIS. IM+ also has a FAQ page you should check out.
