right i have downloaded mini opera onto the phone and when itry the connection test it says i have not got a working connection. read on a post something vague about apn fields but can someone give me a idiots guide. i'm on Vodafone in the uk

Do you ever use the RED SEARCH button? I know a few people are going to get sick of ansearing questions that have been talked about 100 times and a simple search would have founf the solution for you!

options - advanced options - TCP - where it says APN type wap.voicestream.com

leave user name and password blank...
Please use the search button next time so we dont clog up this bored with things that have already been talked about.

I see what you're saying, but I also see where MythmbHurts is coming from. I'm an admin in another message board, and seeing people not search for answers gets in our nerves.

Too bad nobody answered his original request. He is on Vodafone and everyone keeps giving him Tmo info.

at last thank you. someone who actually read the post correctly and saw i stated i was on vodafone. i did search the forums and everything they stated was ref T Mobile. i am new to blackberry but not forums

i have tried every combination of APN details i can think of:

apn:wap.vodafone.co.uk
user:wap
password:wap

apn:internet
user:web
password:web


is there something i am missing, is there other sections on the 8100 that need filling in or something!!

This is no help to you but I have a similar problem with vodfone and instant messengers (Verichat, IM+ and the like). I've not managed to connect any of these on ANY BB and I'm in my 4th model. It's not the 8100 it's the service provider and if you phone them they are no help.

I found the red button!!!

a search for wap.voicestream.com = 246 results

do you like opera mini enough to go thru all this? the bb browser on the 8100 seems so improved over the previous I didn't feel the need to "upgrade" to opera and I loved it on my 7100t. just my 0.02

That feeling has just hit me. Bo**ocks to Opera!

Sorry if I was rude but the search button is there for one simple reason so new BB users can find what they need fast and easly.
One use of the search and you would have found this and your problems sovleds

Vodafone (UK)
Gateway IP: 212.183.137.12
Port: 9201
APN: wap.vodafone.uk
username: [email address]
password: user

and where exactly do you enter a gateway ip and port number??

also the username field is not big enough to fit in the email address

also check for stray spaces (especially after the .uk) that took me forever to find - sad, stupid story
