Unhappy Volume of ringer, etc.

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,
Got my 8100 yesterday and the Ringer volume and Speaker are approximately 30% +/- LOWER than on my 7100, I checke it a couple times while both in front of me. Of course I did everything possible to raise the volume to max. also did the 4.2.064..? update but didn't change anything. It's a shame that they managed to put so many features in a little phone but they had to sacrifice volume, big thing for me.

Was anyone able to do this 71XX series to 8100 comparision on volume?

Does anyone know of an update for higher volume...at least RINGER!!...besides drilling holes in the backplate, I'll resort to that when I have no choice!

Wish I could help but the 8100 is the first BB I've owned. Ringer is alright, speaker can get fairly loud and playing mp3 around a crowded outdoor area can only travel about 15 inches :-\

Hmm... I've found that the ringer volume is actually too loud on medium. I had to change the volume to low. Maybe it has something to do with using ringtones? Not sure. My Pearl sounds better than any other phone Ive had, but this is my first BB also so I dont know how it stacks up against other BBs.

Interesting, I heard and had other phones too but most seem a little louder and the 7100 that I still have is way louder.

Thanks for the opinions, anyone owned a 7100 and now an 8100?

thanks

Dave

Angry I agree

I had ringers by the thousands and now I download them and I can't hear them Man! I wish they could make the ringer louder.

The speaker just sucks on the pearl... that's the worst thing about it

It's very low, but I've found that if I boost the volume 30 to 35% on my MP3 tones (via a sound editing program), they ring MUCH louder.

Default Ok

The one thing that I dont like about the ringer is that when it goes too high, the clarity of the speaker is not as great. But I cant complain because it is a phone speaker, i will use headphones if i want good quality from my MP3's. Also what i did to make it sound pretty loud is make sure the setting is set to loud and following on the other thread I have drilled holes into my back cover, directly over the speaker. That really made it a lot louder and no muffled noise anymore. Other than that I have a program for making my ringtones and sometimes will put the volume output a lot higher. Hope that helps.
