| Anyone else using BB Pearl who is student/not CEO? Please Login to Remove! Hello. I'm new to this forum and have browsed a few threads...
I just got my BB Pearl a few weeks ago. I'm a grad student and have been loving how I can type little memos/class notes and keep my class schedule organized. I was even able to find a few books in online format and just connect to the web in class - totally saving me about $50 on a book I'll never read after this semester... Oh, and I just started to listen to mp3s on my BB...
Well, I like the listening to music thing so much, I'd like to try using my new BB on my nightly jogs. I currently use a walkman (I know, stoneage - hahaha) but a friend of mine uses her phone at the gym, so I thought I'd give the Pearl a try at this. The only thing is, I worry about protecting it as I run. I need something that will keep it in a case/hoster - so it won't "jump" out as I jog. some of the cases I've seen - while nice - seem insecure...
Is anyone else doing this? Am I the only non-CEO type using a BB? Any suggestions for a case? Thanks, I'd appreciate it. | | Offline

| I know many people who use a BlackBerry. Some are business professionals, some are consumer/prosumers and when I was in University I saw many people rockin' BlackBerries. You're definitely not alone. | | Offline

| You're definitely not the only student using a Pearl... I'm in law school myself. However, I don't use it for all of the things you are using it for. I generally use it for the email and phone functionality, and enjoy the photo/SMS/chat/games bonuses. My wife gets a lot of use out of the calendar, but I generally don't keep one. As for jogging, I'd recommend not using it. As far as I know there is no "sport band" type carrier for it, and while some of the rubber cases look pretty sturdy, you'd have to make up your own carrier, like duct tape or something, to secure it to your body. It's a big risk to take with your phone. I'd recommend going with a low cost MP3 player... might work out better for you in the long run (all puns intended). | | Offline

| Yep i'm a college freshman, and i too have become a crackberry user recently. I mainly use mine for the push EMail and the LONG battery life (I came from Nextel which is a battery hog). i also use mine for surfing the net wirelessly from my phone and laptop. So you are not alone. | | Offline

| I'm an undergrad, but I work at a bank. So I use my Pearl to keep track of appointments and more importantly to send email to professors and coworkers since I'm on a tight schedule.

| Just got my Pearl last week. Some of my friends think its an overkill for a college student, but it has been VERY handy so far. I'm loving mine! | | Offline

| Undergrad here, and BlackBerry user of one week. I think the term "overkill" is subjective. I enjoy all of the mobility and capabilities the Pearl has to offer, and I conduct as much business on my phone as I would if I were to use it solely for business. In fact, since I'm a student and a business employee, I can use all the organizational tools I can get. ;)

| MMMMMM..... Blackberry!!!!!!!!!!
I am a Culinary Student, and I use my blackberry for basically everything. It keeps track of my personal email and my Bartending Business email.
And by the way, my battery smells like celery too! LOL | | Offline

| I'm an undergrad student myself. I had been looking for an excuse to go out and grab a pda or blackberry and when my old phone died last week it was the perfect excuse.
I loaded in all my class schedules and test/assignment dates. So far it's been keeping me pretty organized. Picked up a microSD card yesterday so been listening to music as well. Great now since I don't have to carry around my iPod as well. | | Offline

| Senior Undergrad finance student here.
Can't say much for what I use the blackberry for yet, just got mine yesterday!
I love this little thing so far though, can't wait to get acquainted.
I can't comment so much on using the thing for working out, another thing to consider is how much you sweat.
I use a 60gb ipod video when I work out (in an armband).
If it's kept real close to your skin it MIGHT get wet?
The dimensions are different yes, but you might toy around with some old Ipod mini armbands or maybe new Ipod video (30gb) armbands.
Definately go somewhere you can test it out beforehand because it definately wont be an exact fit. | | Offline

| I had my first BlackBerry 7100r and I loved it. Then I moved to the 7130 and I was thrilled with the high speed technology.
When I moved to the Pearl, It turned my life around.
Without my Blackberry, I would prefer stay at home and do nothing.
My life is relied on that device.
Try it to see the difference. | | Offline

| I'm an undergraduate, fourth year.
EDIT:
What made you think you were the only non-CEO that uses a BB? BlackBerrys aren't that expensive...

I am also a student, use it for memos and due dates for assignments, it's great. I've had my Pearl for 3 weeks now, and don't know how I lived without it before! | | Offline

| I'm not a student nor do I use it for work. Just nice to have email/web access while not near my computer or while traveling. A bunch of my friends have done the same thing for the same reason.
Plus the quad band (an improvement over my old triband) gets better reception around my house which is generally a black hole for cellular reception.
