So I just tried to install the Rogers update on my Tmobile Pearl. Everything was going fine until the last bit of the installation. Then I got a message saying the install could not be completed. My Pearl now simply shows a white background with what looks like an application window with a no symbol on it. The number 507 is written below. I'm not sure where to find what this symbol means (I'm assuming it means no applications/os are loaded) or more importantly, how to fix it. I would simply restore, but the Desktop Manager does not recognize that the device is connected. The BlackBerry Device Manager, however, does see it and says it's connected. Any idea on how to wipe/reinstall with original t-mo os or how to get desktop manager to restore original settings?

I searched the forums but couldn't find much help.

Take off your battery for about 20 seconds, pop it back in, plug it into your USB

and follow this link in your PC:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

Double click on Loader, and re-install your OS. The same thing happened to me before last week, and I did the same thing. You should be up and running in about 15-20 minutes. If you see the spinning hour glass, give it some time, it is normal.

Ok, although update. Restoring with the backup I did right before updating the OS brought back all my contacts and messages. Unfortunately, however, the BB browser, IM client, and other apps I've installed (Google Maps, Mobile Gmail, etc) did not come back. I understand the ones I installed probably were never backed up. As for the browser and IM, I found this thread:

which explained to go into options->advanced->host routing table and click "register now" (clicking the pearl did nothing, but menu brought it up). Shortly after I got a text message saying I was registered. The IM client was pushed down, but no browser. Another annoying thing is that I can't download Google Mobile programs with the Opera browser (downloaded this on my PC until I can get BB browser back and it works fine). Any suggestions?

Also figured I'd mention that the BB Maps program works fine.

Alright, nevermind. Pulled the battery again, did the routing table bit again and got the browser back. God bless blackberry forums.
