Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry Pearl (8100): Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.0.5849/1438; en; U; ssr))

Make sure your phone is set for the right country code.

Push the green talk button. Then menu/options/smart dialing. Make sure you have +32 for country code.

Does not work for me. Numbers are displayed with 0 in front and are thus still not recognized!!!

So just to give an example I set my country code (+44 for example) and when someone calls me I get a number like 0123456789. In the address book my numbers are all stored like this: +44123456789. What am I doing wrong?

Have you told your BlackBerry that you loved it today? Sometimes they just need love to function properly.

Not sure if this is what you are asking, but the only time on my U.S. T-Mo phone where the name shows up is if the caller is in my address book.

When a call comes in, the phone checks the number and if it matches the contact in the address book, then the name displays exactly as that I have listed in my address book.

My TMO plan includes caller ID but I tentatively agree with San Francisco that if its in my address book it shows up if not then not. Of course, many callers block their ID or their number doesn't have a name tag with it. I'll experiment with this and if the above is true then I'll have a word or two with TMO as they're not providing the service.

Note:
I just did some experimenting from a phone that I know has an ID. It shows the phone number but not the ID. I put it in the address book and lo it appears as in the address book. Poor show TMO.

Now on to a fun phone call

I understand the approach of 'love is all you need', but I am afraid not in this case.

Any other option then talking to your phone?

speaking of a useless post...............

anyway,
you need to look at how the incoming numbers are showing up. on my last phone, it just did the area code then the number, so thats how i had to enter them in the adress book.

with the pearl, i get a 1, area code, and then the number. so i had to change every number to add the '1' before them so the caller id would recognize the number. there probably is a setting to take off that one, but for me just adding it to all my numbers worked fine.

also, when you get a call from someone, just add them directly from the caller id. you will see it adds the area code and maybe the '1', either way it will add the number so it can recognize itself.

from my understanding, no cell phones display the name with caller id. its not real caller id like we used to get on land-lines. you just get the number, and you have to associate a name with that number for future reference.

That's true. Caller ID, from a cell phone stand point, means showing you the phone number. It will not show the name of the person/business unless you put it in your address book.
