I had the same problem with a customer's 8100. I went into his outlook contacts and he had not deleted the pre installed "welcome to contacts". It is the first address that is saved on the list. At the same time I deleted his only distribution list. The problem went away and it sync’s fine.
Other blackberry's will not sync if you have pic's stored to the contacts.
