Unhappy Getting songs/ringtones on bb8100

Please Login to Remove!

Okay, I just bought my very first bb8100 on Wednesday and yesterday I tried to transfer some songs from my computer onto the phone. Well to say the least, it was a very long and unsuccessful attempt.
I download my songs on LimeWire but when I try to transfer them, all it has is the actual LimeWire folder on my phone but you can't open it or anything. Can someone please give me step-by-step instructions on how to transfer the songs, please? I would really appeciate it cause at this time I am completly lost on how to do it. Thank You!

Use the desktop manager or use your phone as a mass storage device.

Do you have a TF card? If you dont, that's probably part of the issue.

If you use desktop manager...use the Media Manager and just trasfer from your comp to your phone into a folder of your TF card.

Depending on where you put it (ringers) or (music) will allow you to use the MP3's for whatever purposes.

Hope this helps a little.

The problem is I don't think I know how to transfer them. I can get to that screen where you have to select which program you want to run from the left side and click it so it goes into the right. Then when I do that, I can see the LimeWire folder on my BB but thats it. I can't do anything with it from there.

Where are you directing it? To the phones memory or your TF card?

I guess I'm saving it to the phone because I don't have a memory card yet. And when I transfer it I think it says "device memory".

Thats why. Get a memory card. Your MP3's/Folder are probably too big. Try transfering just 1 song and see if it works.

Once your in Desktop Manager...go to Media Manager...it should split your screen into 2 parts...left represents your computer...right represents your phone

Locate your limewire folder on your comp..and open it up...it should list all your songs in the folder. Choose one of the songs and and then click the arrow pointing to the right side. At that point it should transfer the song you selected to your phone.

See I tried to do that. Once I click the Lime Wire folder it does nothing. It doesn't open or anything. But it could also be because I just downloaded the Lime Wire program on my comp yesterday. Maybe I need to turn the comp off, so it recognizes the new songs.

Could be. Also disconnect from Limewire...it can make you comp buggy sometimes too.

Ok, so your telling me that when I open up the lime wire folder every song that I have should be listed. And I can select what songs I want to put on the BB. But I should only try to d/l one song first to see what happens with it cause of the size.
When I click the song, will it automatically transfer it to the BB?

Thank you for all your help!

Make sure you point to the right folder when you try to transfer files to the phone, point to the music folder on the phone (right side) and point to the FILE not the whole folder... a SINGLE FILE on the hard drive (left side).

Also make sure you have space available on the Pearl, if not delete some applications or whatever you dont need. Make sure the space dedicated to the pictures on not too big (10 megs in plenty).

Good Luck!

Yip. Select the song you want...then hit the arrow pointing to the right side (going to your Pearl). Give it a shot.

It should pop up with a file transfering window showing the status of the move and once its done..it will show up on the right hand side in your music folder or ringer folder (where ever you want it to be in)
