Default Functional (alternative)Media Player?

Please Login to Remove!

I am looking for a decent media/mp3 player for the 8100.

As far as I understand, in order to play mp3s, you have to choose a subfolder (=Album) in the music folder on the media card. You're then able to play the tracks in this folder. However, I see no way of the player randomly playing ALL the music on the media card.

Does anyone know how to do this, or is there an alternative media player that can do this?

Many thanks,

I think you are stuck for now. I am not aware of any hacks.

Eventually, if the Pearl has enough of a following I am sure there will be some third party developers who come up with alternative media players, but for now the Pearl is too new and no one has the incentive to develop programs for sale.

It can be done, that's for sure. The Pearl OS is like any other where third parties can develop and sell add-on programs.

You just have to be patient. The Pearl is only two months old. Give it time.

I am hoping they sell enough Pearls so that the user base is large enough to motivate people to create programs for it.

I love this phone and look forward to refinements and add-ons. For example, I'd like videos to play full screen and to rely on pressing keys to perform player functions, such as precise rewind, fast forward, chapters, etc.

Tchao,

I found those menu items as well, but these will only shuffle the particular subdirectory your in; usually an album or artists.

I'm looking for a command or program that will shuffle all the music on the media card.

Thanks,

Quinten

Default Creat 1 second clip

If you create a one second clip of a song (even silence) and put it in the root and select play all, it will play the one second clip and then move to all the subfolders. I named my clip PlayAll.mp3. It is a cheesy work around but it works. Also, you can use Windows Media Player to create a playlist of all of the songs, there is another thread on how to do this on the forum. I also put the one second clip in the root of some subfolders that have folders even deeper, for example Led Zepellin has 3 albums in seperate sub folders so my root has the one second clip and also my Led Zepellin folder has the clip so I can just play all of my Zepellin music.
