Just got a brand new Sandisk MicroSD 2GB card for my 3-day old 8100 Pearl. Once the card is installed and the battery is replaced all that happens is my screen flashes from time to time as well as a red LED. I can't turn it on or get it to stop this. I'm not sure what to do. I called T-Mobile to see what they have to say and all I was told was the card is incompatible which I don't see why. I saw on some threads here that the most recent update available on blackberry.com helps with this issue with the 2GB card, but then some say it doesn't. What should I do?

You should either upgrade the OS on the phone to support the 2gb card or return it. The Stock pearl with the stock OS only supports 1gb card..

What T-Mo meant is that the operating system that is installed on the T-Mo Pearl does NOT support 2GB cards.

This is not any different than many of your devices, such as cameras and MP3 players. Many of those have limitations on the capacity of the cards you can install.

That said, the Canadian Rogers OS, installed on the Rogers' Pearl, has support for 2GB cards. Not sure on the European Vodafone OS.

What people are doing, since the OS on any Pearl is from RIM, is uninstalling the T-Mo OS and installing the Rogers OS.

Read up on doing this and beware there are some trade offs on installing other OS's. For example, I won't do it because the Rogers OS takes away the ability to turn the auto-dim feature off, meaning auto-dim is always on. I don't like the Pearl telling me when the display should be dim or bright. I like it bright at all times.

T-Mo is coming out with a patch or update for the OS and I expect it will have 2GB support. I hope that the auto-dim off feature is not stripped from the T-Mo update.

I installed the new (well different os) a few days ago and don't notice any differences. Do i need to uninstall the old version? I just figured it would over write it.

That's right, you need to uninstall it, including manually removing an "xml" file or something like that.

You should look up how to do all this.

I bought my t-mobile BlackBerry Pearl 8100 phone last week and just bought a 2GB Sandisk. Tried to load some mp3's and received an error message. I went to Options/Advanced Options/Media Card/Media Card Support: ON AND Mass Storage Mode Support: OFF. It works fine. Love this phone.

actually you are not correct here sir... rogers OS is the same as any other, i have rogers and i can turn the auto dim off and on, whatever i choose

keep in mind the post about the Rogers OS is nearly 8 months old, and you experiences now, the ability to turn off the auto dim, may reflect their new/current OS
