Default displaying wrong picture for the caller - 11-11-2006, 09:28 PM

hello,
i upgraded my pearl from t-mobile OS to rogers OS. Now i noticed something like this,

1) person 1 with picture 1
2) person 2 with picture 2

both these contacts are in the address book and have seperate phone numbers.

when person 1 calls, my screen shows person 1's name, number and person 1 's picture.
but, when person 2 calls, my screen shows person 2's name, number and person 1's picture.

it just displays wrong picture for that particular caller. i dont know what to do. did anybody had that issue with rogers OS ?

thanks

Yes.. running Rogers and have experienced the same Bug..

Caller 1 - Caller 1 pic
Caller 2 - Caller 1 pic

Tough situation when caller 1 is girlfriend and caller 2 is mom and you answer the phone based on Caller 1 this = mom not being impressed..

Seems it does not get refreshed..

Im sure it will be fixed in future

Upgrade to the .64 OS. I had the same picture issue from time to time using the Rogers OS (.51) but I haven't had it since I upgraded to the o2 OS (.64).

Are there any disadvantages for a Rogers customer to be running the .64 O2 OS? Does anything not work?

Lastly, where would I get a hold of that firmware?

Thanks for your help.

There are no disadvantages to your service if you run .64 OS. Links to the .64 OS has been posted in another thread. Try doing a search and you should find them.

I spoke with Rogers and they said it is not suggested to run any upgrades unless they are downloaded from their site.

So my question is whether or not it is advisable to install the upgrade even though Rogers suggests not to.

If I was in Tech Support I would likely tell you the same thing. After all, if you have a problem it would be hard to call your carrier for help on another carrier's update, at least without a red face. Caution is not a bad thing.

That being said, I try em all. Its not that hard to go back if you don't like it or if it causes you problems. I'm not aware of an issue that was caused by a carrier's network and another carrier's software version unless you try to mix a totally different network type IE: Nextel and TMO.

In this latest round of updates for the Pearl when we upgraded we gained a couple of things and lost others. There is a lot of scoop in the upgrade threads on the pluses and minuses. On the original TMO release we had the ability to turn off the auto dim for the backlight. the Rogers version took that away but gave us multiple functions on the side keys. The O2 (latest) update resolved some bugs but took away the multiple use side keys and didn't restore the auto dim turn off. And so it goes. I always upgrade with other carriers versions and have never gone back.

Thanks a lot for the explanation GMK.

I'll check out all the +ve's/-ve's of the updates and decide what to install.
