Default Unlock Code for Blackberry 8100 PEARL on Rogers - 11-17-2006, 05:39 PM

I've done a search on this and so far, only unlock available for users on Cingular.

-I've called Rogers and they say they don't have unlock codes.

-I've called the third party and they say they don't have the unlock codes yet.

-I've called Blackberry themselves and they said the codes are at the carriers to locks/unlocks them.

I am practically going in circles here. So much friggin' trouble!!!!

Why is Rogers being so anal? They've already bought out Fido. There is no competition for GSM anyways.

Why unlock? 2 main reasons:

1.) Our users travel to Asia and back to Vancouver a lot so we need to have the phones unlocked to give them the users flexibility to change services when they are in Asia.

2.) Switch services while in a different country avoids HIGH ROAMING charges.

I know of a few places that were able to unlock the Rogers 8100 BlackBerries but haven't done so in a while as they haven't been able to get the codes however from what I hear they will be able to unlock them in the very near future.

Also unlock isn't available for Cingular customers... the T-Mobile branded 8100 BlackBerries can be easily unlocked for use on T-Mobile if someone wants their device unlocked or to use on a network such as Cingular or Rogers. My Pearl is T-Mobile branded and had it unlocked so I can use it on Rogers.

How did you unlock your Pearl? I just purchased a TMobile Pearl, but want to use it with my Cingular Account. I don't mind paying for a service - just looking for a recommendation.

how do you check if your BB is locked?

- I've tried the MEPD (even double tapping the OP key). nothing happens.

Looking for that perfect signature, hmm.

I have a pearl with Cingular and I was able to request the unlock code from the Cingular CSR. Have you tried to call them?

make sure your wireless is off and go to advance settings -> sim
then make sure you have suretype off and type in
MEPD
MEP2

you would have to hit the key p twice to actually get the p as well as you need to do the alt T to get the 2.

If you want your blackberry unlocked go to unlockblackberry.org or unlock8800.com. I got my Rogers Blackberry unlocked for only 58.88US, that the best deal i found and the guy was real helpful. His name was Ari.

There are only two possibilities. One is to get an unlock code from your provider, which would be free (if they will give it to you). The other is to pay a third party company to provide you with the unlock code. The one which many people on this forum (including myself) seem to have good luck with is gsmphonesource.com

Robbers (Rogers) Wireless in Canada does not provide unlock codes anymore. They used to once upon a time for $250.00 which is just crazy!!

Someone is best off going to Adam or another unlocking spot to get it done.

That is nuts. It looks like Adam will do it for about $50.

Also try this, How to unlock the BlackBerry Pearl and enter Blackberry Unlock Codes | AskStudent

Contact your provider and They should give you a unlock code for free, just tell them you are going out of country for a week and need your phone.

There seems to be a lot of support for Adam from GSMPhoneSource yet I have had nothing but problems. I placed the order on Monday July 30. It says the service is 2 days, yet he won't respond to my phone calls or emails. I received one email a week after I placed the order asking me to double check my IMEI number but it was correct and I verified it again. It looks like I'm out the $65 I paid for the service so I wanted to warn others out there to be mindful. Perhaps I'm the exception to rule, at least that's what it appears like from this thread, but I figured I would let others know of my experience.

Hey Shivam, I'm personally working on getting the Unlock Codes from Rogers Currently trying to see what I can do I know that if you do *#06# it gives you your IMEI Then I went into Options, Advanced Options, Sim and although it didn't say anything while I typed it I spelled meppd and that gave me the sim settings, then I typed mepp2 and that gave me the Network MEP Code area, Once I find out how to get that code I'll let you know, BTW though if you go to the website blackberry unlock - unlocking gsm blackberry or calgarycellunlockers calgary cell unlockers, call 2UNLOCK they can help you there but see if you can get the unlock code first if you do please email me at [email address] and let me know how you did it please. This goes for ANYONE if you find out how to get a Network MEP Code for Rogers please email me there and let me know how to get one please!

T-Mobile is not Rogers, so your statement really doesn't help the original poster or anyone else in this thread.

Generally, you must be subscribed to a service providor for at least 90 days before they will even allow you to request for an unlock code. And that's typical of most providors.

When you speak with a CSR or the like, you must guarantee them that you will be continuing your service with them.
Essentially the typical story is "I will be travelling to such-and-such country, and I will be using local service there on a pre-paid SIM card."

And they will understand and allow you to unlock your device.

They say up to 7 days for the code, but depending on the manufacturer, it usually takes 24-48 hours.

* I can't speak for Rogers/Fido... but I can suggest that being "upset" with your inability to carry your device overseas is something you can push, and threaten to disconnect service.
About all I can say regarding that, haha. No promises!

I can tell you right now, Rogers/Fido will not give an unlock code, no matter what the reason. We both have deleted all software and programs needed to generate one.

Me being an employee and knowing everyone in tech support, and i still couldnt get one...

so no matter how much you threaten to cancel, or leave or say your going over seasa you will not get one... sorry

There is no such thing has a free code. You will not get the code from Rogers, no matter how hard you beg, threaten them. Anything you try, they stopped giving codes out. You can unlock any Blackberry phone (or most Rogers/Fido phones). Visit Global Unlock - Rogers and Fido Unlocking Service

This includes all the 8100 8300 8700 & 8800.

Thanks and feel free to email me at [email address] if you got any questions.

Sorry to disagree but there is such a thing as a free code. I just called AT&T for my 8300 and they fixed me up. They verify your info and open a case. Usually takes about a week and they email you the instructions along with the code. Hope this helps any of you AT&T users out there. BTW I just dialed 611 from my phone.

AT&T & TMobile will give codes to their good customers. Rogers doesn't.
