When I go the 'phone log' mode I can also look up number easily but typing in a name. It couldn't be easier.. if I type JK-ER it uses SURETYPE to immediate narrows down all my contacts and shows JEremy or KEn or JEssie then let's me scroll and and selects them.
But for some reason (and it's driving me crazy) when I am in the address book it defaults to the ABC 'multitap' method which is SO much more cumbersome than the suretype method..
It seems to me that it would be a no-brainer to do something (if not the exact same thing) in the address book interface as they do in the phone log. As a matter of fact, I seem to remember it using this SureType interface in the address book on my 8700.
When I activate the menu to 'change input modes' there is no option in either the addressbook menu or in the options/settings for the address book.
Is there a key combination or something I can do outside of the Address Book menu or settings to set the entry to SureType? Can it become the default? Will the 8100 remember the last mode used?
While I hate to be a complainer because I love my new 8100 -- it seems like bad design to force Multitap entry for finding contacts in Address Book when there is clearly such an elegant solution available to them they they use in the Phone Log.
