Woke up this morning and the red light was flashing on my Pearl.

Went to turn it on and the hour glass just keeps spinning and when it stops it says "App Error 523" and then it says "RESET" underneath it.

I can't seem to get my Pearl to turn on at all. I've tried doing a hard reset and removing the battery and still nothing.

Somebody please help!!!!!

Wow, that's strange b/c I too am getting "App Error 523". It just started this morning.

It's freaking me out because I can't seem to do anything to get my Pearl to turn on..

I have had a similar problem before. I believe I had a different error code. I know there is information on the forum about this issue and how to resolve it, but I can't remember what the solution was. I took my sim out of my 8100 and put it in one of my cell phones, so at least I can txt and have access to voice! I am too lazy this Sunday morning to stress about it!

Using the handy "search" button at the top of the page, I found several threads discussing what to do with an error 523. Here are two:

You will need to wipe out the BB and reload the OS.

I'll go through the forum and i'm sure i'll get everything figured out. Really glad i backed up my Pearl on Fri.

Ok so I wiped the Pearl and installed a fresh OS but now how do I get it to install my old image backup that I have?

Start Desktop Manager
Click on Backup/Restore
Restore the file

Tried doing a fresh install and still having problems.

Upon turning on the device the hourglass just sits there spinning then an image shows up and says "523 error".

Trying to install OS once again.

What a hectic way to start the day.

Make sure you wipe out the BlackBerry first - do not just load the OS.

I used JL_Cmder first to wipe it out. Then did an install. Trying turning it on and the hour glass just kept on spinning.

So trying the whole process all over again.

Any idea as to what could have caused the error in the first place. The only 3rd party software I have on my device is mig33 and Opera3.

Seem to have everything up and running back to normal again.

Maybe now I can actually start my day!

Last night I went out to my car, it was about 12 degrees F and picked up my phone to send a txt. Well, the red light was blinking and the screen displayed:

App Error 523
reset

Following the processes others have undergone (removing battery, SIM, MicroSD card, rebooting and all I've been unsuccessful in getting the phone to "work" again. It would seem that I'll need a Windows PC to get my phone functional. This, to me, is completely unacceptable. I've already started searching for a replacement phone for various other reasons - this is just the frosting on the cake.

- poor battery life (especially if bluetooth is used)
- poor call quality
- rear cover falls off rather easily
- extremely slow access times to MicroSD card
- Selecting a song as a ring tone is so slow that the phone won't ring before the call rolls to VM.
- Unable to record voice memos longer than 1 minute.
- Terrible voice dialing
- Lack of support for Mac users

I am getting this error as well. On my 3rd Cing Pearl. Here's when it happens--when i receive a picture message from a Verizon customer, it kills my Pearl. MMS from Cingular OK, only Verizon. Thoughts??
