Anyone here have the earpiece of their Pearl just stop working all the sudden!?

I tried making some calls yesterday evening and I heard nothing! I thought maybe I left my BT headset on and connected but that wasn't the case. So
I switched to speakerphone and suddenly I could hear again. I turned on my BT headset and I could hear too! So what's going on here?

I got REALLY worried and did a full backup, then I wiped the BB and restored and STILL nothing! So then I used BB Desktop Manager to pull all the extra programs I have installed off my BB and suddenly BAM I could hear through the earpiece again. I have NO idea what caused it.

But here's my killer, it stopped working again! Out of nowhere! I made a couple calls today and they all worked fine. Then I JUST missed a call and when I came back I dialed my voicemail and I couldn't hear anything!!!

P.S. I'm running .67, the latest OS. I'm not even going to bother downgrading because it can't be OS related seeing as this only started happening a good week after having the OS installed.

As I write this I'm on hold waiting for BB Tech Support to come on so I can request a replacement, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this as well. And NO I have NOT dropped my Pearl or misused it in any way recently to cause it to stop functioning all the sudden.

And lastly, this problem does NOT affect the other end of the call. They can hear me fine, I just can't hear them.

same happened to me... im just gonna replace it!

ive already filed an RMA for mine. apparently they're processing my order as we speak. i was very disappointed though. i called RIM last night (wow. open to serve on a sun. night!) and the girl told me i dont go through RIM for warranty, but actually my carrier. as far as i knew, i only go through my carrier (rogers) within the first 30 days and after that its a manufacturer warranty.

i wish it was through rim though, because after calling rogers they told me 4-5 business days to get it replaced!!! wtf!? they expect people to have a phone that they cant speak on for 4-5 business days? this should be an overnight express scenario where a new device is delivered immediately to the customer.

thankfully i can still handle email and use my headset, but its a pain. i cant imagine what someone who lives on their phone would be like hearing this news.

nonetheless, cant wait for the replacement.
