Default Cingular 8100 - OS Version - Download?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got the Pearl yesterday. Looking for a way to unlock the themes, and from what I have read I need to change the id in the Blackberry.alx file. I am not sure how to get my OS version, of which I cant seem to find on the net, onto my computer so that I can change the file. Any suggestions - the versions are below. Thanks

App v4.2.0.69 Platform V 2.2.0.40

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry Pearl (8100): Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.0.6306/1528; en; U; ssr))

It should be on the CD that came with your phone. Cingular doesn't have it available for download yet.

Will,

RIM and Cingular haven't released the download for the Cingular Pearl OS yet. Should be about a week.

Did Cingular include the handheld OS on the CD? The last CDs I've had only came with old versions of Desktop Manager.

So does anyone know the difference between the .69 Cingular OS and the .67 Telefónica Móviles OS? Anyone willing to upload it for those of us who dont yet have it?

I have a copy of the Cingular CD - if anyone can tell me where to find the appropriate files for the OS on the CD, I'll be happy to host it...

I realized that just after I posted - I searched the CD for a file in the 60-70MB range and found nothing. There is a CAB file on the CD that is 153MB which I have to assume holds the DM and the OS. Anyone recommend a CAB viewer/editor which may allow me to pull the two out of it?

I opened the CAB file and there are hundreds of smaller files in there - no executables to pull out... ah well!

I'm pretty sure that their is no os version installed via ds. At least it doesn't mention in in the comments

For cingular at least

*Correction* It comes with v4.2.0.69 preloaded.

So its been out for a few days now and its still not on the cingular BB site. What would someone do if they needed to reload the OS? I think this is a bad move on Cing's part not to release there OS yet for a BB that they are already selling.. Would someone with a cing pearl like to call customer care and find out they should do if they needed to reload there OS...

Cingular will unfortunately tell you to return your phone and get a new one if you have issues with the software during the first 30 days. I would give them til 12/24, as Cingular is waaaaay slow to publish downloads on the BB download site. It really is pathetic, but what can you do?

I have an unlocked tmobile 8100 and have been using with cingular since sept. its running 4.2.0.42 / 2.2.0.28

Everything works great except the mms which i am hoping will correct once i install new cingular os.

one issue: cingular pearl has the worst themes! tmo zen is the best one. will i lose that theme once i upgrade to cingular os? i was not able to unlock themes as previously posted on other threads.

Also my wife has cingular pearl. how can i add tmo zen theme?
