Had my Pearl for a month now and over the weekend, the trackball stopped selecting anything when you press it. It still scrolls, but now I have to use the Enter key.

I have tried rebooting the device with the battery method, but invariably it leaves me with a nonfunctioning key pad and I have to reboot again.

Is there a fix for this, or do I need to get my pearl replaced?

make sure the cursor is in a position of where you want to start selecting text. hit the button to the left of the trackball (dont know what it's call, maybe option button?) scroll up to "select" and then you will be able to highlight the the text by scrolling down (or up) depending on where the cursor is located.

Sorry you misunderstand me. I wasn't referring to selecting text.... Clicking the ball does not do anything now. Can't click on an icon from the home screen. Clicking just doesn't do anything in anything.

I remember other posts about this; get a can of compressed air to clear any dust or other obstructions.

You may have to call in to customer service and have them send you a warranty replacement. My wife had a trackball issue with her Pearl, and they sent me a warranty replacement within a few days.

Same problem over here. Just all of a sudden it wouldn't scroll downwards any more. I tried hard resetting, canned air, even tried to reload the OS. My computer tech was not happy about that because we had to do the enterprise actavation all over to sync me up. lol Which wasn't really even necessary because now TMO is sending me a replacement. All you'll be responsiblie for is shipping as long as there's no water damage.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. The keypad just stopped working. I could scroll up and down with the ball, but I could not select anything when I clicked down. I couldn't even answer an incoming call...not one key worked. I did the battery pull...even tried a Mexican hat dance...nothing. Called Cingular...they are replacing the unit.
