Confused with Email

Default Confused with Email

Hi everyone, I'm brand new, so please excuse my ignorance. I've just gotten my 8100 set up, and I've noticed that I have a "Messages" application and then right next to it a similar looking folder with an orange arrow on it which is named after my personal email account. I notice that my emails go to both folders, however all messages go to the "Messages" folder. Is the second personal folder redundant, and if so, how do I rid myself of it?

FYI, I am not an enterprise user!

That's just the way it is. When you go into the 'Messages' folder, you can press ALT+S and just see SMS (text) messages. However, there is no way to delete or hide the folder.

You can hide the folder that is specific to that email account and just get all your messages from the one standard message folder. I got 5 accounts and hid all five folders and just left the main message folder to get all my messages. To each his own but I found that the best

Really? I've been trying to figure that out and I just gave up on it. Where do I go to 'hide' the folders?

do you know of a way to configure the message folder to just show sms messages all the time, instead of going in and choosing alt+s?

i'm thinking no but thought i would ask anyway

That doesn't work, it just opens the app.

A workaround would be choosing a theme like O2 Zen that has separate icons for SMS/MMS messages and email messages.

Unfortunately, I did try "hiding" it, but now it just sits there, except it's grayed out?

Press your menu button, and click (uncheck) "Show All".

I find it best to hide all but the icons you use often so as the ease the navigation thru them. If you need one you hid, they are always there with show all

If you are using the Zen theme, there should be an option to "Organize Applications," either on the Options screen or beyond the last icon in the applications list
