Default No alert for e-mail!

Please Login to Remove!

I hope someone in this forum can help me out. My phone rings, it alerts me if I receive a new text but nothing for new e-mails! Every once in a while, I'll look down and just notice I have a new e-mail but didn't hear anything. Everything in my profile is set to some type of noise (even though I don't know which one specifically is linked to e-mail), so I'm baffled. Thoughts????? Fixing this will make my day.

Sounds like you do not have your profiles setup correct. Play around with the various profile settings and you should be able to fix your issue.

Well like I said, I don't know which setting is specifically for e-mail but I can assure you that all of them are set to some type of sound. Still, I hear nothing. Which one is for e-mail?

Go to menu/profiles/advanced. Select the profile you are using and then you can select your email address that you want to change the settings for.

Ummm ok I don't see the option to select a specific e-mail address. Why should I have to do that anyway? I have browser, level 1 messages, mms, etc. ALL set to some type of alert but still don't hear squat for e-mails.

Not Level 1 messages. Just Messages. There is a setting for 'Messages [youremail@yourserver.com]'

Not at all trying to be a smarty but the current profile you have active, is it mute or silence? Obvious questions but still.

No I made sure I didn't have anything turned off or on mute or else I would have felt quite dumb. The profile is set to active and I hear nothing. I also don't see any options for "messages." I have a sound for "messages" like everything else. Still nothing

Any changes you recently made to the device, i.e. OS upgrade, 3rd party app installed, etc?

I'll change it to loud and see if it works. It's just really frustrating since every other notification works.

I haven't made any changes to the device. However, I did send an e-mail earlier and when I didn't hear back I double checked on the person to make sure they got it and they never did. I'm receiving weird e-mails from some network address saying

" This message is used to carry data between Blackberry handheld and an associated server. PLease do not delete, move or respond to this message - it will be processed by the server"

Any thoughts on what THAT is? Any relation to my not hearing alerts for e-mail??

Your BES activation hasn't completed fully. That could have a lot to do with it. contact your BES admin person.

Have you pulled the battery out for ten seconds and then replaced it? Give it a shot, it won't hurt anything.

I actually did try the battery removal thing a while ago as a hunch and it didn't do anything.

Did you purchase your BB used or did you purchase it new? It sounds like there may be an old IT or BES policy on your device.
