When I tried voice dialing, Pearl had hard time understanding me. It always gives the incorrect options.

Is there a way I can record the name of the entry in the address book and the voice dialing would try to match my voice command with my voice? I know some phones can do that (I think some old Erricsons I had).

I don't think can. The best advice I could give you is make sure you pronounce the names correctly.

I don't have the best speaking voice either so when I talk to it, I try my best to pronounce it as clearly and the best I can.

Make sure you say the whole name. If the name is listed as "John Doe" than you have to say "John Doe".

Aww that's too bad that it's not recognizing things. What a bummer cuz it's a great feature. I am loving it, so far it has always gotten the right name for me....

In Options>voice dialing you can adjust the sensitivity levels. You can also train the VD for your voice on digits (1,2,3...) that may help it recognize your speech patterns (dunno if this true).

I had a similar issue. What I had to do was change the names in the address book to only be one name. For example, I have a friend Bill Laster the the 8100 would not recognize. I changed his name first to only Bill, then to only Laster. When I put them both back together it finally worked. Give it a try!

I found it is not about pronouncing correctly, but pronouncing how they are spelled. I have it on last name, first name and it rarely gets it wrong.

I had this issue after my initial enterprise activation. When all of my contacts were pulled into the phone, the system would not get anything right. I pulled the battery and when the phone rebooted it rebuilt the database and voicedial has worked perfectly since.

Not sure if it will help anyone reading this tread with issues -- but there is a known bug with voicedialing that I ran into... after a quick fix voicedialing was working WAY better..

I had not tried it until I read this thread. It works perfectly, for me, when there is a first and last name. I do have a problem with entries that have only a first name. Thats not a problem.

One of my favorite is "Status"
It goves you the signal strength, battery condition, etc.

Calling a number from my bluetooth headset is a pain in the rear! It almost always gets the number wrong! Names....I have no issues.

I'm wondering is there a way to have the pearl dial your vocie mail with voice command? If so I can't figure it out.

you can program you cell phone number into your address book and call it Voicemail as a name. Then you can use the voice dialing to dial your voicemail. However, you probably have to use the buttons to delete the voicemail or do other functions.

Go to Options > Language > Voice Dialing Language > English UK > Save
then go back to Options > Language> Voice Dialing > English US > Save
Now go to your voice dialing and it should reload your address book. It should work fine from then on. =)

To fix this go to Applications ---> Options ---> Voice Dialing ---> Menu Button ---> Adapt Digits. Should help the phone recognize what numbers you are trying to say.
