Default Use as 3G Modem in the UK

Please Login to Remove!

I recently signed up to T-Mobile Web 'n' Walk as my 3G datacard from Vodafone had 3G coverage issues and GPRS is hopeless at sending and receiving large files.

I managed to get the 8100 working as a modem at 115.2 kbps and the phone indicates GPRS.

Has anyone managed to use it as a 3G modem in the UK? Can you set the phone to use 3G only?

Correct. The 8100 is not a 3G device, so you will not see 3G speeds.

The 115.2 speed you are seeing is between the computer and the 8100, not the 8100 and the network.

You can use EDGE if you have coverage though.

EDGE is about 5 times faster than GPRS, so it is muuuuch better.
