Default I forgot this Pearl trick..

There is a trick to typing in letters and having the phone automatically turn them into numbers to dial (like 1-800-STAPLES) as the pearl does not have the conventional "2 is abc" keyboard. I can't figure it out. What is it?

Thanks, that works. I tried that before and because I saw the letters (not numbers) as I typed I didn't know it would work when dialing.

yep...and remember to hold the alt key and double tap (multi-tap) your letters in. Works good...as long as you have two hands available. ....... Don't attempt while driving.

Try dialing 800-GO-FEDEX.

The Alt key's proximity to the "X" key makes it difficult.

Question..hope someone can help. If i'm on a call, for example calling the bank and am prompted to enter my mother maiden name...how can I do that without disconnecting....can I still hit alt and enter the letters without interupting the call?

Another way that worked better on the 7100, but works when operating with one hand, is to press and hold the * key, which takes the phone into text multi-type mode. You will need to backspace the *, but then you can type text without holding down the alt key.

It does not work so well when in a call, since sometimes * takes you to voicemail dialing options / up one menu level in some systems.
